Fresh fruits
Fresh fruit is one of the main export sectors in the country. Chile is currently the leading exporter of fresh fruit in the Southern Hemisphere, and is the largest exporter of grapes, cherries, and plums. The global consumer can enjoy fruit all year long thanks to Chile´s counterseasonality with Northern Hemisphere markets. The sector is present throughout Chile, with a variety of crops, thanks to the work of some 8,000 producers who export to more than 100 markets. The activity is governed by strict protocols to maintain sustainability, both in the fruit cultivation in the field, and in its processing plants. Its objective is to deliver the highest standards of safety and sustainability. In addition, it has international certifications and applies good environmental practices throughout its activity. It also considers the workers protection and harmony with the surrounding communities, all fundamental attributes for the world consumers.
