Beekeeping
With around 8,500 beekeepers and 1,200,000 hives distributed throughout our extensive territory, Chilean honey has unique characteristics due to their floral diversity and organoleptic qualities. Native honey, such as Ulmo and Quillay, are natural products in line with global trends of sustainability. Its main export destinations are Germany and the European Union, and to new markets such as the United Arab Emirates, China, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. The honey industry, in constant innovation, meets high production and quality standards demanded by world markets. Chile is the fourth largest producer of honey among Latin American countries. The Chilean beekeeping sector currently concentrates its exports on honey, queen bees and bee packages. The country's beekeeping contributes directly to the social and economic development of small and medium producers.
